The Timberwolves added some much-needed depth at an important position when unrestricted free agent Sebastian Telfair agreed to a multi-year contract.
Telfair, 23, gives the Wolves a second point guard behind Randy Foye, who missed the first three months of last season because of a knee injury.
Acquired from Boston in the Kevin Garnett trade, Telfair started 51 games for the Wolves, averaging 9.3 points and 5.9 assists.
His agent, Andy Miller, confirmed the deal but declined to reveal any terms.
"Sebastian's intention from Day One was to be back with the Timberwolves,"
Miller said. "He feels that they've given him a second chance and he wants to repay them by developing under their tutelage."
The Wolves will announce the signing at a 10:30 a.m. Wednesday press conference at which Telfair and team vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale will be available to the media.
Telfair became an unrestricted free agent on July 1 when the Wolves declined to make him a one-year, $3.5 million qualifying offer.
He is the second free agent in the last two weeks to re-sign with the team, joining forward Craig Smith.
Restricted free agents Ryan Gomes and Chris Richard remain unsigned
