Pruitt agrees to deal
The Celtics [team stats] agreed to terms yesterday with second-round pick Gabe Pruitt. Negotiations with fellow second-rounder Glen Davis are ongoing, but neither side anticipates a problem.
Pruitt, taken 32nd overall, will be brought along slowly as the Celts work with him at the point. Glen Davis, chosen at No. 35, could take a bigger role, especially if he gets in better shape.
Danny Ainge, the director of basketball operations, said the club expected to have the two signed soon, and it appears now their signatures won’t hit the contracts until after the holiday weekend.
Also, the Celtics officially announced that Tom Thibodeau has been hired as an assistant coach. It comes three weeks after the sides agreed on a one-year deal.
“I’ve admired Tom as a coach for a long time,” said Celts coach Doc Rivers. “It’s good to have him on my side.”
