The Boston Celtics, which won its first National Basketball Association crown in 22 years in June, will be back on the radio in Northwestern Vermont this winter.
WJOY-AM (1230 on the dial) in South Burlington, which aired the Celtics for many years, but dropped them in the team's down years, has reached agreement to pick up the audio feed from WEEI-AM in Boston, the flagship station for the Celtics radio network in New England.
General Manager Dan Dubonnet of Hall Communications, which owns WJOY, announced Monday that the 1,000-watt station is scheduled to broadcast all 82 regular season contests, beginning Oct. 28. He said a couple of the eight pre-season games, which start Oct. 8, also will be broadcast.
WJOY has broadcast the Boston Red Sox since 1946. Dubonnet said should conflicts between the two broadcast schedules develop, the Celtics will shift to one of the other stations owned by Hall Communications, probably WKOL-FM, known as Kool 105.1.
